Axis is an IT company offering network video solutions for professional installations. The company is the global market leader in network video, driving the ongoing shift from analog to digital video surveillance. Axis products and solutions focus on security surveillance and remote monitoring, and are based on innovative, open technology platforms.
The video surveillance market is booming, driven by increased public and private security concerns, as well as a technology shift. The transition to network video is a reality as customers take advantage of flexible, industry standard systems for security and video surveillance. As security management over the IP network expands and intelligence capabilities move out to network cameras, systems can scale much more easily. This move to open systems empowers a much more productive and cost-effective means of surveillance than was ever possible.
Axis offers the market’s broadest and most consistent range of high-quality network cameras.
Based on open IP standards, Axis network cameras connect to any kind of IP network, including the Internet, and enable remote viewing and recording from anywhere in the world. They also provide advanced video analytics features, such as motion detection, audio detection and tampering alarm.
A wide portfolio of products for professional IP video surveillance
Whether you are looking for a video surveillance solution to secure the safety of people and places, or to remotely monitor property and facilities, Axis can meet your needs.
You benefit from an extensive selection of network cameras – several with megapixel/HDTV resolution – which come in different forms to fully meet your requirements:
Axis provides a wide range of accessories that complements its network cameras and video encoders and assists in your network video installation.
Whether the network cameras are to be placed in demanding outdoors environment, mounted on ceilings, walls or corners, or used for night-time surveillance, it is important to find the right accessories that fulfill these demands and are quick and easy to install.
Axis provides a wide range of accessories to facilitate the installation and maintenance of network video systems. This includes protective camera housings, mountings, illuminators and lenses and equipment for power over Ethernet (PoE). Accessories from Axis are always tested to work with Axis network cameras, making sure that installation is straight-forward and that you get the performance you expect.
Axis housing configurator provides you with a list of accessories required to mount your camera correctly in a specific location.
Axis offers IP-Surveillance software solutions as a complement to the company's network cameras and video encoders.
You can create the surveillance system that meets your specific needs:
General surveillance and recording for systems up to 50 cameras
AXIS Camera Station is an IP-Surveillance software that works with Axis network cameras and video encoders to provide video monitoring, recording and event management functions. Users can record video continuously, on schedule, on alarm and/or on motion detection. The software has multiple search functions for recorded events. Remote viewing and playback are also possible with the use of the AXIS Camera Station Windows client.
Video surveillance and recording for small, large and enterprise systems
Axis' Application Development Partners (ADP). Axis network video products are supported by the industry’s broadest range of video surveillance software. Together with more than 600 application development partners worldwide, Axis can deliver open and scalable solutions to meet demanding end user needs for most application areas and industry segments.
Monitoring and recording service for a large number of customers with few cameras installed on each site
AXIS Video Hosting System (AVHS) is a server software especially designed for service providers such as security companies and Internet service providers. By installing the software to their own server or by using an assigned hosting partner, service providers can offer a true plug-and-play camera monitoring service over the Internet.
Axis video encoders integrate easily into your existing analog CCTV (closed circuit television) system. You can acquire all the benefits that digital technology offers without scrapping your investment in an analog system.
A video encoder (also referred to as video server) digitizes analog video signals and sends digital images directly over an IP network, such as a LAN, intranet or Internet. It essentially turns an analog video system into a network video system and enables users to view live images using a Web browser or a video management software on any local or remote computer on a network.
It allows authorized viewers from different locations to simultaneously access images from the same analog camera, as well as network cameras if they are added to the system.
An IP-based surveillance system will give you the ability to secure people and property, or monitor equipment and facilities, remotely from anywhere there is a networked computer.
In addition, by utilizing the serial ports of a video server, you can remotely control existing equipment such as pan/tilt/zoom devices or time-lapse tape recorders. A video server can be connected to a wide variety of specialized cameras such as a miniature or microscope camera
With Axis-compatible applications you can meet specific end user needs by adding functionality to your Axis network video products. Typical applications include intelligent video applications that provide the cameras and encoders with capabilities based on e.g. recognition, tracking, detection and counting.
The applications can be downloaded and installed on all Axis products with support for AXIS Camera Application Platform.
The applications are developed by Axis’ application development partners and are ready to be embedded in the camera or encoder. Placing the application directly in the product – "at the edge" – helps to build more cost-effective surveillance systems. For further information on system design, benefits and possibilities of intelligent video applications, see Axis Intelligent Video.
Note: The first compatible application available is AXIS Cross Line Detection, released in December 2009. Moving forward, the number of applications is expected to increase significantly, as Axis will implement the open application platform in a majority of its products during 2010.
